Unhealthy Posture

The child is too low for the table - arm movements are restricted - this leads to difficulty with fine motor skills such as writing, drawing

Hand-eye distance is adversely affected making visual tracking (essential for development of reading skills) difficult.

Lack of foot support forces the pelvis to tilt backwards and results in an unhealthily rounded lower back - the basis for back problems in later life! The body tires quickly. 25% of body weight rests in feet. Child cannot sit and concentrate for long periods.

Correct Posture

Correct height for table - child can use her arms freely to work and the hand-eye distance is correct.

The depth of the seat is correct - her legs can "drop down" - results in a healthy, upright spine.

Feet supported - this is the basis for sitting - the body is supported and this healthy upright posture doesn’t tire so quickly. Your child can concentrate for much longer periods, mom!
